The [Huge] Weekend in Sports

In the annual Crosstown Shootout, XU tarnished a fantastic win by going all “Gangster” on the Bearcats. Really, it was an embarrassment to the city and the tradition, and the ‘punishments‘ that were delegated on Sunday were equally (if not more so) embarrassing.

Ryan Braun tested positive for PEDs. Seriously, everyone has done it. And honestly, as Daniel Tosh says, “Sports needs steroids. It does, are you kidding me? Baseball certainly — baseball is a strike away from being soccer.”

The #1 and #2 teams in the country both lost on Saturday, and they couldn’t have been two teams I dislike more. My favorite team, the unranked* Indiana Hoosiers stunned the powerhouse Kentucky Wildcats, while #8 Kansas delivered a beating against Ohio State.

Robert Griffin III took home the Heisman Trophy. Not that I really care, but how cool of an accomplishment is that? Even better, how awesome were those socks?

The Bungals out-Bungal’d themselves yet again. With a must-win game on the line, Cincinnati gave up a 13-point lead to fall to the short-handed Texans. The young 7-6 Bengals team has shown a lot of improvement this year, but there is so much left to be done; 2011 just isn’t the year.

Eli Manning proves once again that you cannot spell ‘ELITE’ without ‘ELI’.

*After that win, the 9-0 Hoosiers are expected to be ranked in the top 25 for the first time since 2008.
