The History and Evolution of Sports Logos

Have you ever wondered where your favorite sports team’s logo originated, or who designed it? It may be because I design logos and identities for a living, but I think there has to be some general curiosity there. We – as sports fans – represent these brands; whether they’re emblazoned on hats, embroidered on jackets, or screen printed on t-shirts.

What’s even more interesting to think about is where classic logos come from, simply because they are timeless and effective, despite their old age. Just for the sake of this entry, I am going to Google my favorite sports teams to try to find out the history and evolution of their respective logos.
